Bushcraft Skills

Today we went to the Cobb valley to learn bushcraft skills from some instructors who work at outward bound.  We did location awareness, fire starting, navigation off track, and safety in the bush. The bush safety came in handy when a wasp nest was disturbed and children and instructors got stung.  Everyone did the right thing to sort the problem out. Carrying on the students learnt how to build shelter that would keep the weather out if they got lost. 1 of the other highlights was falling over on the grassland that was very uneven. We finished off with a quick 1 in the river all students but one had to swim in their clothes.  Well done to Shaye for being super organised.   Caleb astonished the teacher by identifying 10 different species of native birds. It was a a fantastic day thanks to wonderful instructors and excellent students.
